Internal Decoration

It is up to you to decorate the inside of your property. The Society will only make good any damp staining caused by leaks, which are the Society's responsibility to repair. If the water damage is caused by you or neighbouring tenant (e.g., letting a bath overflow), the Society has no responsibility to make good the water staining, and the tenant causing the damage is responsible for the costs - a good reason for having contents insurance.

"Making good" does not mean re-decorating the entire wall, ceiling or room. It simply means that the affected area will be decorated to match existing as closely as possible; alternatively, paints may be supplied in lieu.

External Decoration

de Montfort Housing Society is responsible for decorating the outside of your home. It is also responsible for decorating any communal staircases, landings, and common rooms in blocks of flats. Decorating by the Society will normally be carried out every four years, as part of a Planned Programme, although this may vary from site to site, and from time to time.
