Blue Riband Service

The dictionary definition: "The highest distinction in any sphere". Originally used to denote competitions between the highest class and swiftest transatlantic ocean liners in the 1930's and 1950's, it is now an accolade to be applied to the top class in any goods or service.

What is de Montfort Blue Riband Service?

The Blue Riband Service is a range of incentives that de Montfort will provide to its best tenants. Blue Riband tenants are those that always comply with their tenancy obligations:

  • by paying the rent on time
  • by looking after their property
  • by allowing prompt access for repairs and gas servicing
  • being good neighbours by being considerate to others

To these people de Montfort will provide its highest level of service. The level of reward is related to the length of your tenancy. The longer you remain a Blue Riband tenant the more you can receive.

After 12 months, you will be eligible for Group 1 benefits:

  • Inclusion in the Christmas Prize Competition with a cash prize of £100+
  • Discounted prices (trade cost) on decorating materials
  • A 'Golden Goodbye' bonus of £100 provided that
    • You have a clear rent account (including any Sundry debts)
    • Proper notice has been given
    • All keys are returned on time
    • Property is left in a clean and good decorative condition
    • All rubbish is removed from both house/flat, and garden/garage
    • A forwarding address is provided

After 5 years, you will be eligible for all Group 1 benefits PLUS Group 2 benefits (one of the following):

  • Free Security Package (if practical to fit): Spyhole, door chain and external light 
  • One room re-decorated (emulsion and gloss)

After 10 years, you will eligible for Group 1 benefits PLUS Group 3 benefits:

  • 2 rooms re-decorated (emulsion and gloss)

After 20 years, you will be eligible for Group 1 benefits PLUS Group 4 benefits:

  • Full house re-decoration (emulsion and gloss)

How do I apply?

Everyone will start off as eligible to receive the Blue Riband Services - we believe the majority of tenants deserve the best we can give them. Provided that you keep to the terms of tenancy you may apply, as appropriate, for any of the above.

Failure to keep to the terms of the tenancy means:

  • No rewards
  • Exclusion from improvements to your home, such as a new kitchen/bathroom
  • And a standard repairs service

What happens if I am not eligible for the Blue Riband Service?

We will continue to fulfil its legal obligations to you as a tenant, and will carry out repairs it is legally required to as a landlord - within a reasonable time, ie., Standard Class
